QP's Fantastic Flock - Last Updated 9/7/2021
Hola. I am a waterfowl breeder and exhibitor from New South Wales, Australia. I first showed ducks as a junior in 2017, and have continued since going to a greater range of shows throughout NSW today. In recent years I have had a fascination for duck colour genetics, specifically in Mallard derived ducks. This has lead to where I am today, working on countless breed and colour projects. Anyways, enough for an introduction about me, your here to see the flock!

Ducks
The good old ducks, these are my primary area of focus since moving away from breeding pigeons. I have a few breeds of ducks currently, with a few varieties both standard and non-standard to the Australian Poultry Standards. My newest breeds include the Australian Calls, Crested Bantams and Magpie Projects, with Mallards being the OG's as I've kept them since 2015 or 2016. Here are the breeds and varieties I currently keep:
  • Mallards (Natural, Blue Fawn, Black Bibbed, Chocolate Bibbed, Pied)
  • Australian Call (Mallard, Silver)
  • Magpie Projects (Black, chocolate, blue, splash)
  • Crested Bantams (Mallard, Chocolate Mallard, Dusky Mallard, Yellow-billed white)

Mallards
Mallards were my first purebred breed of duck I had owned, previously keeping Welsh Harlequin and Indian Runner crossbreds in my childhood. I got my first trio of natural mallards back in 2015 or 2016, my memory is a bit fuzzy. I named them Cheeky, Lovely and Missy. In the first year of keeping mallards the size difference between the standard sized crossbreds and them was astonishing, the mallards were just soo small. I showed Cheeky and Lovely for the first time in 2017 at a local agricultural show in the junior waterfowl pair class, and they got 1st place. I continued exhibiting in the Junior class until 2019, then I was too old and have been exhibiting in open class. I recently started breeding Blue Fawn mallards with my first season being in 2020. I have also got self or bibbed coloured mallards which I am hoping to improve in type and breed towards a bibbed mallard found in the wild. Another project of mine are pied mallards, I recently received my first pied mallard cross Australian call duck who will mother the project. Enough backstory, now some photos of the ducks.
