My name is Christina. I am an Army wife from Tennessee. I only have 1 chicken. Her name is Turkey. She's just great and full of personality. I also have 9 dogs, 7 cats, and 2 ferrets.
My chicken is indoors in my office. The other animals like to look at her but know not to get too close or she'll pull their fur lol.
I'm here to learn as much as possible about chicken (hens) so I can take as good a care of her as possible. I got her when she was 3 days old. I rescued her from a breeder who didn't seem to care when I brought to his attention that her toes were being pulled off by her cage mates. Well I did..so I bought her brought her home. She works rather well without the toe tips she lost and my husband and I just love her. We were so excited to see she started laying eggs this week.
She is in my home for the purpose of being a pet. We've discussed using her eggs, but I can't bring myself to eat them LOL. Anyone else with that anxiety? Some look at chickens simply as food but I do not. She's my little Turkey..well chicken..you know what i'm saying.
So bring on the help, it's all greatly appreciated!
