hi just wanted to show the brooder me and my grand daughter built. we just finished the construction today. we still have to build the nipple waterers and the auto feeder but wanted to share pics of the brooder. this brooder is L 5'-0 x W 2'-0" x H 2'-0" and sits atop four 4"x4" legs that are 30" . the framing is made of 2"x3" studs and trimmed out with 1"x3" furring strips. the doors are also made from 1"x3" furring strips. we used 2 stainless steel hinges on each door with 2 barrel latches on each door so each door could be opened individually.the floors are made of 2 sheets of coraplast sign material. coraplast was also used on the back and the 2 ends. the top and 2 doors was covered with 1/2" hardware cloth. we are going to be using 2" to 3" of sand (non silica) to cover the floor for easy litter cleanup. we will be building a waterer consisting of 4 watering nipples and an auto feeder with an 18" feed trough all made from pvc pipe. we also made the vinyl rooster decals on our decal plotter. if anyone needs and rooster or chicken decals or farm signs please feel free to contact us. we was able to build this including the the pvc pipe and nipples for the waterers and feeder for $75.00. hope you like our brooder. we are also going to be building a meal worm farm next week to start raising meal worms for our chicks and for resale. please feel free to let us know what you all think of our brooder.
