My husband and I had been talking about getting chickens for quite awhile. Then we made a drastic change to our diet and we eat a lot more eggs. So this became the year of the chicken. :) We started with the building we used as a bus shelter when our kids were young. Hubby and son dug it out and moved it and then the renovations began. Nesting boxes were added and a roost was made from a pine tree that was not doing well in the place we planted it. The coop has a foyer with a shelf to the right to store the extra feed. A hardware cloth screen door separates the chickens living quarters from the foyer.

We have fifteen chickens (5 Buff Orpingtons, 4 Red Stars, 3 Auracanas, 2 Golden Polish - a male and a female, and 1 Gold Laced Wyandotte cockerel). They seem to be enjoying their coop and fenced in run.
Nothing in the construction was straight or level, hence the name, LOL.
