Hello! We are a family of four with an enormous love for animals (well some of us anyway!). We already have a dog (Dakota) and 2 cats (Fuzzball and Royal).
In Summer 2009, we decided to find a new pet, and chickens seemed perfect for raising as pets and also for the eggs! We hatched 5 chickens; 2 Barred Rocks and 3 Easter-Eggers. Unfortunately, 4 turned out to be roosters which we had to get rid of. In February 2010, Kris, our lone hen, began to lay eggs! And for Easter 2010 we picked up 3 baby chicks (pullets) that grew up now! So now we get 3-4 eggs every day! We will continue to post pics and update! Love BYC for all of the information and advice from fellow enthusiasts!
