This is our very first experience with chickens and we are really enjoying them. We wanted to provide them with a large, comfortable coop and run. We just put it on the side of the shed in our backyard.

Coop framing going up. The run itself is 12X16

Happy Chickens!!

four nest boxes with a flip lid to access eggs from outside of run

Inside of the coop, with a roosting ladder. We have added pine shavings for bedding in the coop.

4X8 coop with a ramp for chicken entry (and toddler entry, I guess!). We also added a door for human entry for cleaning. The chickens like to have it kept open so they can peek out and jump out!

The completed coop! The wire/fencing is buried into the ground several inches. There is a roof over 2/3 of the run and wire on the other 1/3 on top. Good thing we did the wire on top. There was a huge hawk swooping around the coop the first day the girls were in there!

I still need to paint and decorate the coop! We are looking forward to fall when the girls start to lay eggs for us!
