Hey BYC!!!
I joined February 2014 and I'm so happy I did. I've learned so much from all the wonderful people around the world.

My husband and I had been tinkering with the idea of getting some chickens but never really went through with it until Feb. 22, 2014 when we visited our local TSC to get boots for my husband. My kids (16 & 10) spotted the large silver tubs in the middle of the store. They called us to come see what they found. Well 45min-1 hour later we walked out the door with 12 of the most beautiful Buff Brahma chicks. Needless to say my hubby didn't get the boots we originally went for.

We bought all the necessities needed to start our journey. I even met a lady who told me about this website: backyardchickens.com. I was hooked.

Right away I set out to learn everything I could to help keep my chicks alive and healthy. We started with a small tote, then to a larger tote, then to a huge outside brooder box, lastly to our EggMobile. I slowly introduced them to crickets, mealworms, and fruits/veggies galore only for snacking purposes. I was dead set on gathering everything I could to make a Chicken First Aid kit (yeah my hubby thought I've lost my mind).

At this point we didn't know if we had all females or a good many females and a few males. Well 10 weeks into this adventure, the chicken gods were shining on us cause we have 11 beautiful healthy pullets and 1 handsome cockerel I named Kurt Crowbain.

The last 2 are of my main man, Kurt Crowbain.

My story doesn't end there....I got the chicken bug that's for sure.

In the beginning of March, my son and I went to TSC to get a few more necessities when we spotted those silver tubs. We looked and saw a tub of the tiniest little chicks ever!!!! I called my hubby and said "They have chicks again and oh my these we are looking at are the cutest ever!!!! I've gotta get some!!!!" So my son and I left TSC with 6 bantam chicks; 2 black, 2 white, 2 chipmunks.

Charlie & Spot

Bully & Big'en

Denver & Nugget

We named these cause they were all different colors and we could tell them apart unlike the Brahmas. I dubbed the brahmas "The Honeys."
The bantams we have Nugget, Bully (MSU mascot name), Charlie, Spot, Denver, Big'en.

We now have The Honeys outside in their EggMobile and the Littles outside in their large brooder box. They will be moving to coop/run very soon. Their coop/run is under construction.

We are thoroughly enjoying our chicken adventure. Thanks for reading about us.
I'm sorry I'm a bit neurotic about taking pictures.
