Rhode Island Red
Rhode Island Reds are a well-known American breed, which was developed in the state of Rhode Island. They are sometimes described as "brick shaped", due to their horizontal, oblong body, which is deep broad and long. They are an excellent dual-purpose bird that efficiently produces large brown eggs. Chicks may have white on the their wing tips, but when they are fully matured they should not have any white feathers. The standard weight of adult males(roosters)is about 8 1/2 lbs. and Females (hens) weigh about 6 1/2lbs.
