Additional Information | Roosters must be kept in an acoustical structure so as to block the sounds of them crowing at night from disrupting other residents in the area. Permits are required for roosters at the below rates: 1-6 roosters requires a permit but there is no fee. 7-10 roosters requires a $500 annual permit 11+ roosters requires a $1500 annual permit. The fines for violation of the permit laws are subject to fines up to $250 per annual offense monetarily and could also result in a misdemeanor charge. Zoning restrictions apply, but in R-1 areas, chickens can be kept in lots that are greater than one acre in size. They must be kept >20 feet from the property line and must be kept >50 from any other residence. They are to be kept in the back side of the lot, and cannot be allowerd to free range on the highway... or any other thoroughfare. |
