Born and raised on a farm in Longmont, Colorado, my husband is one of those dying breeds of men who know farm animals, how to care for them, and how to please his wife (me) by letting us raise chickens. We met on the internet in 1999 and married in 2001. We are now living in Southern Colorado with 2 acres, 5 cats, 3 dogs, 5 chickens and a BIG garden that's the envy of the nearby town!
We had 1 rooster and 2 hens for the past year. Sadly we lost the rooster earlier this year. So we added 3 straight run pullets two months ago. One seems to be a Rooster and the other two hens. We haven't checked yet. We're getting ready to introduce them to the two older hens. They've been together in the yard, separated by chicken wire for about a month now.
