We got our first 4 chickens in March of this year. And lost our first 4 chickens in June to a crafty fox. Back then we had a dog run that we thought was sturdy enough to keep predators out but we were wrong! Since then we built the "fortress" as our friends call it to house the new girls. If a fox gets into THIS coop he deserves the chicken!
We built a 16X16 chicken run made with 4x4's, 2X4's and galvanized wire. The wire was put up with wood screws and washers. On the top is 85lb poultry netting. The coop is 4x4x4 with two roosting poles and 2 nesting boxes. We also put the coop up on 2 foot tall legs so that there would be shade.
