Here is my first attempt at building a henhouse myself. I thought out the design, drew up the plans and put it together. It's 4' wide x 5' long and 4' high. I put in a side door on the left to be able to reach in to collect eggs. In the second photo you can see the two removeable nest boxes. In the door I put a window with screen and cut out a plexi insert to go in there in winter. The roof is that rolled rubber roofing. Pop door for chickens to go in and out is in front and the whole front opens for easy cleaning. I also built a removable perch that fit inside. I stained it dark cedar and it works well for a friend that bought it for her Americanas.
