My 9 year old son has been saving his money for several months, with only one goal in mind....to raise chickens! Well, as luck would have it, we were in TSC this week and the chicks were out in full force. My son was drawn to them like a moth to a flame! We looked at the money he saved and decided he had saved enough to get started on becoming the 'egg czar' of our small town. I designed his coop and we started construction this afternoon. Still have a bit of work to do, but we made a huge dent in the project today.

The dimensions are 4'x8’. 4’ tall in the front and 3’ tall in the back. Fortunately, I had a portion of the materials available (they were leftovers from when we built our house). He happily shelled out $180 of his hard earned money to pay for the remaining materials that we needed. Needless to say, my wife and I are very proud of him for his determination and hard work, even if it involved hustling a little money from his grandparents.

Here are a few pictures of our progress up to this point.

**Finally!!!! A few pics to upload! :) We can't wait for a little warmer weather and sunshine to help the shingles lay down flat, but the roof is already keeping the rain out, so we can wait for it to finally look good. We still have a little work to do, but my son is wanting me to share our progress. He is tickled to death and he can't wait for his chicks to get to use their new home. Even my wife is happy with it, so we must be doing something right!

***The chicks moved into their humble abode finally and seem to be very content.
