My girl had a sudden illness onset, and yes, peritonitis, the advice on antibiotics and supplements was literally lifesaving(she’s much improved, still resting in her own space in my living room) .
Besides the advice, I also strongly recommend that as a chicken owner, have antibiotics on hand. I have ordered from Twin Cities Poultry and am now NEVER without. So many small things can kill a hen quickly and quick access to meds has made the difference. I have no affiliation with the company, but I want to share the information.
My hen first aid kit always has:
Antibiotics(Amoxicillin, Baytril)
Self stick gauze wraps
Antibiotic gauze pads
VetRx
Theracyn
Clotrimazole(anti fungal)
Baby Aspirin
Nu-stock wound care
Chicken electrolytes
Saline
Oral Syringe

Add things that you find essential in your care kit, aside from your regular foods and supplements. I have found that the girls can be so fragile, and often quick action is needed.
Maybe this will help you or someone along the way when the inevitable moment arises when you are the only option for help, share, add to it and happy cluckers for all!
