The chicks in my hood

Hi there! this is my backyard flock. They are an interesting mix of personalities. My Roosters name is Puff. He is an aricauna and a sweetheart. He got a little feisty with me one day, so I scooped him up into my arms and embarrassed the holy heck out of him in front of his ladies. I loved him up until his only mission in life was to get away from that crazy lady with all the hugs and pets. Pretty sure he called me a jerk before he raced across the yard and took refuge behind the salmon berries. My hens are a wayward group. There is a white leghorn who was alpha before the rooster came into the coop. Now she is just a bitchy queen be who tells everyone what order they can use the nest and if there is any protest you get shoved to the back of the line. I have a Plymouth barred rock who is like batman. No really, you never see her unless there is a disturbance in the peace. Then all of the sudden she is there. She even roosts in an old time tool box in the attack of the coop. Now the rest of the flock is known as "the girls" they consist of three sexlinked reds and three red producers. they are a flirtatious and dramatic bunch. I swear if they were humans they would be at the salon, drinking mimosa with their hair up in curlers...."OK franny, tell me everything you know about the new gal down at the water bucket". I have 10 recently hatched out chicks. A combination of that prize winning Aracauna and my girls. :) maybe if anybody reads this they can help me sort out some of my quandaries requarding the various mixtures and what the heck happened when the white Leghorns eggs hatches all black chicks with huge puffy chicks.... i dunno. Thank you Brookliner! :) he is from a long line of Easter eggers. My hope is that the chicks from the leghorn and the aracauna/ Plymouth bard will be Easter eggers :) last year I lost a sweet hen named Ronald (Araucana with red hai, kids named her Ronald weasley) she had vent problems and just didn't make it. I love my chickens. :)
