The Hauser Chooks

The Hauser Chooks are all from Lake Macdonald in Queensland, Australia (near Noosa). We have 1 rooster & 10 chickens. We started off with 3 then we wanted to keep on going. It has been a huge success (on a small scale) & we have enjoyed our experience. As you can see from the photos, they spend a lot of time out of their coop (chook dome) free ranging. They are like part of our family. We chose to build a chook dome for their housing as we have a lot of goannas (just chased on from my verandah from a spot that my girls like to lay in) and snakes in the area. The dome is great because we can pick it up and move it around without much trouble. It also means that we can put them in a spot that needs to be cleaned up and then move them on. Great for permeculture.[IMG]

This is a picture of our rooster, Remi, he looks after his girls very well but is also very friendly. He likes to crow when we return home to let the girls know that we are home.
