Lots of detailed and very informative information. I think it is the best read that I have seen so far on any other sites. New to this site, but it was the first post I read and I loved it.

Thank you. Hopefully it have you many things to think about for your own coop.
Oh my oh my oh my!! :ya
Thank you so much for your highly detailed article:love

I have been searching for over a month, for what I was seeing in my head as to what I wanted in a henhouse.
THIS IS THE ONE!!!::wee with a few changes.

Here’s an attachment of my “For the LOVE of Chickens” henhouse/nursery and coop. My coop is 23’x30’, we will be adding fencing just outside the “poop door” over to the fawn nursery for the new babies.
Question: is that hardware clothe on the inside screen door, wall and windows?

BTW-I love me some beautiful Dobies! We raised them when I was younger, I’ll have another someday.

Thank you again, I’m grateful to Heavenly Father He put this website in my path

Shalom

The door going from the brooder room to the coop is chicken wire. The brooder is all hardware cloth as are all exterior opening coverings.
Amazing article with ALL the details on the build.

Thank you for your review!
Wonderfully written. I've been out of the chicken raising hobby for 3 yrs. Life changes took me away from it but have recently brought me back where I can comfortably start again. My new forever bf has a 50yr old chicken house with concrete floor. All oak boards so it's very old timey looking. My favorite. The coop is 12x20 and is all the room I believe I'll ever need. Because of your story I'm now fully recharged to get busy making it as wonderful and functional as yours. Thank you for the inspiration!!

This is my dream coop.
When I had drawn out what I wanted in a coop bigger coop I very shortly afterwards came across this article. It really helped me work out the kinks in my own design. Very informative with plenty of details and pictures along the way. I keep referencing this coop when thinking of my own and have showed it to my husband to help him see what I want. I’m sure I’ll visit this article many more times before my own dream coop becomes a reality. Thanks @DobieLover

Good luck with your coop build!
This is such an amazing coop and write up of its construction etc! After looking through literally hundreds of coops on the forum, I keep coming back to view The Mulligan as I find it the most inspiring to my own coop and run desires. Thanks, and awesome job on the coop and article!
p.s. I have read this so many times now, I think I have gone through a couple pots of coffee. ?

Thank you! When are you starting your build?
Wonderful setup Dobey.
Need just this one word ‘wonderful’ to describe you’re carpentry, design and ‘novel’.

It took a while to read it all. Mainly because I didn’t get addicted to chickens so much that I want many more bantams and I don’t have a shed waiting to rebuild it. My garden is too small for such a setup either. So whenever I encountered you’re long read I thought: “ I save it for a quiet and lazy Sunday morning. ?

Well lucky you to have a lazy Sunday morning! I'm so busy building and roofing right now I'm always exhausted. I'm hoping to slow down in the new New Year.
Thanks for taking the time to read the article and leave a review.
WOW!!!! What an amazing transformation and final product. Love the space created with roost bars around the perimeter of the interior. Gives the kids the ability to fully use the main floor of the coop. All of your photos and detail give a newbie like me confidence that you can transform an open space into a real home for the ladies.

Thanks for the inspiration and continued joy with your flock.

One of the most detailed explanations. Knowing she has a background in engineering is beneficial as this is solid information.

I have a degree in chemical engineering. I can advise you how to blow up your coop in interesting ways with that background! ?
