Wow! What a well written, and highly thought-out article and coop! I loved reading this and seeing you and your husband's unique style in the end product! You definitely should have some happy chickens!
Thank you for taking the time to read and write a review! The work was all mine though. My poor DH is no longer able to do construction with me. He did help hoist the beams into place though.
and with an engineering degree, which explains my affinity for your style. I think that ceiling light is dubious and recommend a very utilitarian style, like Lithonia makes, which I once used.
Wonderful well written well thought out article of a practical and good looking coop. I have converted half of an existing building to end up with a coop of the same dimensions as yours and have referenced your article multiple times for ideas and practical considerations. Thank you for a awesome coop build article!
Awesome! Mine is similar but built completely from the ground up, Wish Id of seen this before my build, I would have done a few things your way. May still change a few things with mine next spring when its nice enough to work outside again.
This is my dream coop.
When I had drawn out what I wanted in a coop bigger coop I very shortly afterwards came across this article. It really helped me work out the kinks in my own design. Very informative with plenty of details and pictures along the way. I keep referencing this coop when thinking of my own and have showed it to my husband to help him see what I want. I’m sure I’ll visit this article many more times before my own dream coop becomes a reality. Thanks @DobieLover
I have been looking at coops for many months and have not found any that I could look at without thinking of the changes I would make. I want windows....lots of natural light, "poop boards" to make cleaning quick and easy....and an area to isolate a chicken if needed. This coop is larger than I will be able to have....but looking at it is like looking at my "dream coop". I especially like the brooder room/run.... Beautiful....perfect for healthy, happy birds. Thank you for sharing.
My experience in flipping houses I think makes the info relevent.
I have a degree in chemical engineering. I can advise you how to blow up your coop in interesting ways with that background! ?
WOW!!!! What an amazing transformation and final product. Love the space created with roost bars around the perimeter of the interior. Gives the kids the ability to fully use the main floor of the coop. All of your photos and detail give a newbie like me confidence that you can transform an open space into a real home for the ladies.
Thanks for the inspiration and continued joy with your flock.
Michelle
Thanks for reading the article. I hope it helps.
My patience with Fabio runs thin some days... but he is just an amazing rooster for the flock so he stays. We have a guarded peace between us.
