The Schoop

Great project! Love the idea of using a flat pack playhouse and adjust it to use as a coop.
Many people who have barely any skills and machines for carpentry could make such a project work for them too after reading this.

So cute - but also so thoughtful. Your coop and run are perfect for 9 birds. And I love the thoughtfulness you put into protection for them. Burying the mesh, the screens for the windows - and the covered run.

You don't need electricity for an automatic pop door though. Ours is solar (Run Chicken) and we swear by them. However, we are running an extension cable for fans and lighting to make cleaning poop boards easier. It's not ideal and we plan on running electric. Thankfully, my husband (like yours) is one of those handy men with good looking calves. He's also an electrician.

We also plan on running wifi enabled cameras for our own chick cams. Like you - we live in an area surrounded by predators living on site.

Your coop is just fabulous and I may steal your closet design!
Very nice build. I just rebuilt my coop this summer, but down the road when it's time to do so again, I like the idea of repurposing a play house
Great coop and wonderful documentation on the building process. Good to have the info on the kit company too!
Beautiful coop and run, safe and functional!! Great article
Probably the most detailed coop design I have seen. Loads of information and plenty of updates. Great job!
Tons of details that I am thankful for.
