Three Happy Hens

Last summer my husband and I decided to raise chickens so we could have an ethical way of getting eggs. We live in a tract home with a decent sized backyard and figured we had enough space for three chickens. I started researching the various breeds that are both good pets and good layers. After creating a homemade brooder box, we were ready to purchase our chicks. I went to a local feed store and purchased a White Plymouth Rock, a Buff Orpington, and a Speckled Sussex.

Beautiful chicks. I love the Speckled Sussex feathers.
