[FONT=arial,helvetica,sans-serif]This is a copy of another chicken village I saw on this site. It gave me great inspiration! Unfortunately it was very costly to have made. I had a carpenter enlarge the design to accomodate regular size hens w/8" openings. Some of the houses are 27" across the front. The roofs are slightly sloped to keep water from sitting on the roof. And I painted them and sealed them with a water-based polyacrylic sealant to protect the paint. The platform is 16 feet across and 4 feet wide, painted it with porch paint. We put in doors with hinges and handles in the back to clean out as necessary. Did not care about predators, these are in a wired orchard and my hens are the kind that fly. Also I have a very good guard dog that alerts to me to any noise outside and leaves the birds alone.
Please feel free to contact me with questions.
