Additional Information10.48.110 Livestock and poultry. All livestock and poultry where allowed by the WCC shall meet the following standards unless otherwise regulated within this code: (1) Small farm animals (noncommercial) shall be allowed if the property ownership is at least one contiguous half acre in size or greater. (2) Large farm animals (noncommercial) shall be allowed if the property ownership is at least one contiguous acre in size or greater and: (a) One-half acre minimum pasture area maintained for each horse, pony, mule, cow and/or similar-size animal; (b) One-quarter acre minimum pasture area maintained for each sheep, goat, or other similar-size animal; and (c) Twelve poultry per acre of minimum pasture area maintained. Poultry may include chickens, ducks, geese, carrier pigeons, rabbits and similar size and type of animal. (d) No swine shall be permitted. (3) The animal-to-land ratio in subsections (1) and (2) of this section may be increased with an animal management plan reviewed and approved by the cooperative extension office, or other qualified organization, at the discretion of the director. The property shall be maintained in a clean, sanitary condition so as to be free from offensive odors, fly breeding, dust and general nuisances and shall be in compliance with health district regulations. Adequate measures shall be taken to properly dispose of animal wastes. Accumulation of animal waste shall be prohibited from being stored closer than 100 feet from any off-premises dwelling. Barns, shelters or other buildings or structures for the keeping or feeding of livestock or other similar shelter for animals or birds shall meet the size and setback standards as set forth in the underlying zoning district for accessory buildings. Pasture is defined as that area which is enclosed within a perimeter fence, and shall not include that portion of the property used for the residential structure(s) and required front and side yard building setbacks. A fence, adequate to contain the animal, shall be maintained at all times. (Ord. 2007-34 § 2 (Exh. A))
