Carolina Coop

This coop was built almost entirely out of pallets. Foundation was preexisting and was later verified to be a 1950's cold war bomb shelter by the WWII vet next door.( it was already filled with dirt and I poured a concrete pad on top). The roofing material came off my historic home during the reroof this year. Windows were a craigslist find (5 all together). I left 3 of them off for summer. The coop houses 9 chickens (and two ducks in the covered run). The field in the background is part of the historic Potts Plantation. I started giving presentations on poultry farming to the kids at the local elementary school this year with my second grader as my assistant. Teachers said it was a big hit.
