MI chickens

Chicken door opener

I have better pictures of an opener mounted on a display unit, as soon as I find them I will post them. The yellow door is the first unit I built, the door was mounter on old full extension drawer slides. The door and slides together were about 7 pounds, yet the opener worked with no problem. I've used the first one for over two years with only one problem and that was the mechanical timer went bad. I replaced it with an electronic timer works great, that is used on the new units I build.

The pictures of the wooden door show a self locking design. The door is made with two pieces of ply-wood, the 'door' piece runs up and down in the slots. The back inside piece is connected and hinges on one bolt, when the door cord is pulled up the back piece 'unlocks' from the notch in the slide. (The cord isn't connected in the photo, there are 3 holes where it goes) I don't sell the doors but It's a neat easy way of keeping the door secure.
