Now on we don't know how many eggs -- we discovered that both goose and one of the female Muscovy ducks were "stealing" eggs laid next to them and adding them to their nests -- we're waiting for D-day to come with its load of surprises. We've never seen the jar actually mount his companions, but who knows? In any case, we thought that geese laid and reproduced in spring. Ours are teaching us differently.

Photos taken the first days of arrival when everyone was penned into an area under the open barn where they would learn to return at night to sleep. The area turned out to be perfect, though we're building a new shelter made exclusively of pallets and bording a pond dug for both breeds to swim in during the warmer months here in northern France.
