Somehow I didn't get sprayed!

Securely wrapped with 1/2 inch hardware cloth. I dug down about a foot... Hindsight, I should have built it all above to accommodate the snow and overhang. I can walk under it in the summer but have to chip away at the ice to open the lower doors. Maybe next spring I can raise the whole thing....?

I built this coop for the 4 hens I rescued. They were my granddaughter's till her Mom & Dad had to move for their jobs. The little girls seem pretty happy in their new home, and get a visit from her on school vacations.

In the spring, I will add an screened outdoor pen and extend the open pen area as well. For the winter I made them a temporary shelter with pallets hay bales and an old canvas tarp. Plus there is a completely secure area under the coop.
