We had a flock of 120 white rock hen's when I was growing up. The roos were the most horrible birds I ever remember, grandma always processed them as soon as possible.
All I can tell you is that all 5 roos were "this spring hatch". The RIR are probably right about the 8 pound mark. The BR's are probably 4. Thanks for the links. I'll check it out

I'm in Nebraska, which has banned all poultry shows & sales until January 1, 2016. Today my husband saw a semi full of turkeys going through town. How could anyone be shipping birds through a quarantined state???
