Sudden drop in production from whole flock

No mites. Can't figure it out but they are back up to about 4 a day. Maybe they were just adjusting to the heat?

Sudden drop in production from whole flock

Thanks for the tips. No signs of broodiness or egg eating. I doubt something is getting into the nesting boxes. I'm going to keep an eye for potential stressors and check for parasites.

Sudden drop in production from whole flock

My 7 chickens who hatched out last May came of age just as our days got shorter, and none of them layed eggs through the winter. We were thrilled this spring when they started laying. We were getting 5-7 eggs a day. Suddenly, last week that dropped to 1-2. I haven't made any changes to their...

Chickens noy laying yet. Is something wrong?

I will look into a light on a timer. I had been thinking about that, but I thought the shorter days would just mean less frequent eggs, as opposed to no eggs. I have tried locking them down in the coop and run for a few days to make sure they weren't hiding them in the yard. No luck. Haven't...

    Brahma Thread

Thanks to everyone who responded. I ended up picking one dark and one light. The light were really hard to sex. Ended up making the most educated guess we could based on the size and redness of the comb and waddles relative to the others. Here is a pic of our new additions:

    Brahma Thread

This weekend I am going to look at some light and dark brahmas to add to my flock. I only want hens but these will not be sexed. They are 9-10 weeks old so I am hoping I will be able to tell cockerels from pullets. Can anyone offer tips on what to look for when I pick the birds?

Easter Egger Rooster - Cincinnati OH

I am looking to rehome our 9 week old easter egger rooster. I bought him straight run and our muni does not allow roosters. He has been handled since he was a chick and is good with people. Very healthy and handsome. He has a pea comb so chances are he carries the blue egg gene. Very handsome...

    Hi from Cincinnati Ohio

I have posted a few times, but thought I would formally introduce myself. I live in a small neighborhood in the city of Cincinnati, and just started my first flock. My birds are all 9 weeks old now. I have an EE roo named Pete, and six hens: Poppy, EE Rose, "golden buff" from MPC...

Sponsored Post New Giveaway: Try out the Southern States Poultry Pal App for a chance to win!

Downloaded on a Google Nexus 4 running android 2.2. A bit buggy. I uploaded 7 photos, but three of them are gone. I agree the breed list is way too short (this seems like an easy thing to fix). I would like to see more tracking functions (feed, grit, oyster shell) to keep track of how fast my...
