We don't have coons, but skunks ,they can get thru very small openings, so we have buried the heavy(2X4) wire fence under the ground AND then covered it in chicken wire.That was more cost effective than hardware cloth.I have BIG pens and 5 of them.

I have just hatched out two batches of shipped eggs and I noticed as the chicks mature,the Roos seem to be the loudest marked in both groups.Is this common with the breed?

I don't think there is any thing wrong with feed store chickens as long as you can tell they are not sick. Pasty butt, weak etc. Other wise if you are not showing your chickens go for it.

I live in Az and was wondering how other people in hot clomates keep the birds and water cool? The best I have found was to give them "wading pools" and cold water bottles. I work ,so cannot swap them out during the day.The misters seem to be hit and miss. Thanks

One would think that the simplest answer would be to START the bidding at your RESERVE price!! That way there would NOT be an issue over "reserve not met" What is the reason behind that?
