    Thanks guys! I had heard from some meat breeders that growing hatchmate boys separate from girls, a higher density can be kept. I will probably just go ahead and butcher all the boys earlier to reduce the hassle and torment for every creature involved, though I might see if reduced light hours...

    Anyone familiar with coturnix colors of andalusian and/or lavender?

    There is a breeder I noticed on FB (Genesis Quality Quail) who claims to be developing rare colors of coturnix, termed andalusian and lavender. I have not heard of these colors through any of the other big breeders, and am curious if anyone can identify if these birds are a unique color mutation...

    They are coturnix. The boys are in a 3' x 1.7' area (total of ~5 sq ft) on deep litter. I had 14 there till 7 weeks (av weight at that point 237g), right now after moving boys I saved for breeding, one cull and one in isolation from being pecked, I currently have 10 boys in this area coming up...
