I didn't get a chance to check it before I dropped it so it might have had a little opening but once I dropped it
definately more came out and over the following 30 mins more and more came out......but now it has dropped
off!??? could it be the partially absorbed yolk sac? photo coming!
I feel terrible - it jumped out of my hands as I was moving it from the incubator to
the brooder......It seems to have a prolapse of its guts (?) not from the vent but from
what I would imagine is the umbilicus? I am assuming it is doomed but I thought I would
just check that there is nothing I...
Thanks for the replies
Elmo - yes I think that the genetics of these chicks might be questionable as my incubation has been pretty
successful in the past and it is only these chicks which I struggle with Unfortunately, they are very rare
so I have not found any local sellers as yet.....will...
I have been trying to hatch some bantam orpingtons for about 3 months now
I have incubated 24 eggs (4 separate batches incubated from ebay.....2 different sellers)
and so far I have had 1 hatch normally and is a bouncing 10 week old pullet.
5 hatched with difficulty and died after 2-3 days after...
I am also in this boat too - My power went out for 8 hours today (11am - 7pm) while I was at work.
24 pheasant eggs in a basic polybox incy......they are on day 2-3 of incubation......i am so annoyed.
The temperature got down to 21 degrees C (70 degrees F) and the eggs were cool to the touch...
I have hatched chicks about 4-5 times (about 25 chicks) now and the
past hatches have been absolutely fine with great hatch rates and
no deaths after hatch....
...this has been with an R-Com mini and a basic polybox incubator
and has been hybrids and silkies.
However, I have been trying to...
On day 3 now and sickly babie definately on the way out
It would take water if dropped on to its beak but not food.
It has never opened its eyes and remains pretty lifeless
- I have just bought 4 "friends" for Coco - a buff orp, a cochin
and 2 pekins
This is Coco......"she" hatched yesterday and is a thoroughly spoiled little chick
already - she likes to sit nestled into my neck and peck my ears! I have no
broody at the moment so I am her Mama... She does have a "sister" called
Chanel......get it Coco Chanel! But Chanel is not doing...
Personally I would put her in a separate brooder box with a little run - I have had other hens sneak their
eggs under the broody one (sitting on her to lay them - lol) and also I would probably candle the current
eggs in a few days to see what is developing and then if nothing happening swap...
