Well, we candled the eggs and honestly the majority of them never really developed. Could have been the incubation temperature. Out of 34 eggs we have 5 in the incubator, but I am not hopeful. When I looked at the candling photos online it looks like the 5 almost made it and look similar to the...
Honestly, I don't think you are doing anything wrong. We should have candled more often. I was following our babysitters lead since she has hatched chickens multiple times in her life. She is only 22, so I am thinking that when she was a kid her parents probably helped a lot and this is...

How can I tell if they are still alive when candling? I looked through some posts of the process and the photo that I saw of Day 18 (before lockdown) looks like the one I candled this morning. We put them in the incubator on 5/3 in the afternoon.
One of them is awake, but going to wait for my older daughter too. 8am here so she should be up any minute. I put an external thermometer in the incubator to see if our incubator thermometer has been off.
We have used the thermometer on the incubator itself and it has been set at 100 degrees and will fluctuate when we open to adjust the humidity but only by a couple degrees for a few minutes here and there. We bought a few different kinds of eggs. Top hats, fancy feet and then a variety from...
I know. This whole thing is breaking my heart a bit. Barely slept worrying about these baby chicks. Waiting for my daughter to wake up and we will candle them all and let you know what we see. The one I candled this morning looked good to me, but I don't know exactly what I am looking for...
Yep, I am hesitant to do anything, but wanted to see if there was a way to see movement. Our babysitter has been helping us and she has hatched eggs 8 times. We are sort of at a loss as to what went wrong and we are bummed that we are not seeing any progress. We have 34 eggs and for not one...
Temp has been at 100 degrees and the humidity ranged between 35-55% for the entire cycle. Usually on the lower end of that range. We have kept it higher over the last few days. I also saw where you can water test them. Would you recommend it?
We are incubating chickens for the first time. Today is the morning of day 24 and the eggs have not hatched and no movement. The temp has been at 100 the entire incubation cycle. They are in a Genesis incubator. The humidity has been between 35-55 the entire cycle as well.
We have not...
