    Saxony Duck Thread!

Hi Saxony fans! I need your expertise. I'm posting 2 pics, each have pair of yellow ducklings sold to me as purebred Saxonies, now 5 weeks old. The others are Saxony/Ancona crosses sold to me by the same person. I'm beginning to suspect that those little yellow babes are not Saxonies. They...

    Pekin Duck Club!

Help! I'm trying to determine if I should see if my Pekin girl Daffy will sit on these eggs or if I should take them now and put them in the incubator?? I always prefer letting the mom do all the work, but this is my first time with Pekins and have read how they rarely brood. Daffy is 9...

    Ducks & Taxes

Enriquec gives good advice. I am in Canada now, where rules on small businesses are more lenient, but I am from the US and have started a business there that eventually failed, still teaching me many lessons, and as well worked as an accountant in the US. The federal tax code does say that a...

To move or not move unattended clutch of 20 eggs??

I can see that. When my Vivi decided it was too crowded for her liking in the duck pen, she moved across the aisle to the chicken coop and set up her nest there, the others didn't follow and she's got 12 eggs in there now. It took me quite a long time when I first started raising ducks last...

To move or not move unattended clutch of 20 eggs??

Thanks! My gut has been telling me to move them to the other coop, it is quite secure, just not as convenient for me. I can make it really nice, add lots of wood shavings to the nesting box, add food and water, then leave the door open to see if anyone decides to "occupy" the eggs.

To move or not move unattended clutch of 20 eggs??

Hi everyone, This is the first year my Muscovy girls are old and enough to lay and are laying like crazy but they are sharing nests. For some it is clear who "owns" the nest but I have one that now has 18-20 eggs in it and none of the girls has started sitting on it yet. The nest is not in...

What on EARTH?!?!?! Missing bird NO body, no feathers!

I have ducks that have disappeared without a trace, and amazingly they have come back a month, and even two months later. I've also had adult chickens roost in the trees 6-8 feet high off the ground.

Breakdown of processed Muscovy by weight of various parts?

Hi everyone, I'm sending my first Muscovies off for processing soon and trying to price the various parts of the ones that will be cut into pieces. My plan is to charge a lot more for the breasts and livers than the legs and wings. Does anyone have any idea of how much of the processed bird...
