Yes, I have been treating it with vitamin B1 and E and no change which indicated to me probably Mareks… incidentally I have a group of vaccinated silkies who were fed the same and are currently fit and well so I suspect this one has been very unlucky or maybe has an underlying health condition...
Yes me too. So hard but they are so little I think they are pretty much dead if they are not eating and curled up in a ball. I always think that once they look I’ll then they are in real trouble and this poor girl looks bad.
Thanks for this, yes I had an outbreak in 2016 which is why I only go for vaccinated birds. This is definitely my suspicion 😩 I just wonder how long I let this poor girl suffer
Oh wow thank you so much for this. I am in the Uk. It could be a head injury and we did discuss at the vets. Having experienced Mareks in unvaccinated birds previously that would be my guess BUT she is supposed to be vaccinated so I just don’t know. I have been giving her a soluble antibiotic...
Hi everyone, I am desperate for some advice. I have a 10-month Silkie hen that has been ill for a week. I took her to the vet last Friday with suspected wry neck. I have been giving her antibiotics (in case she has an ear infection) and vitamin E.
I have had to force feed her because she is...
Thank you - yes, I did wonder if it was a reproductive issue. This girl is still going out but lying down for most of the day and going off into a nest box on her own at night but I think I will isolate her tonight and try to get her a little bit more comfortable. I had another bird die of this...
She is an older girl - probably about 4 years old. I suspect she has not laid for a while and she was a little off colour about five or six months ago with similar symptoms. She did have a bloated abdomen but it seemed to clear up a bit after a very gentle massage. Droppings seem normal...
Hello dear Chickeramas!
I was wondering if I could ask your advice again please... last week I had one of my older birds die. She had been ill for a couple of days and I had separated her and tried everything I could to pull her through. She lost a lot of weight very quickly and in the last few...
It's not looking good for this little chick. It has its eyes shut most of the time and what seems like a full crop so I think that its digestive tract has not developed properly :(
Yes, on the packaging it shows a chicken, turkey and goose and only refers to these species in the instructions hence my question. I am probably being over cautious but thought I would check. Thanks anyway.
Hello
I have a small group of commercial chicks who are about three-four weeks old. All look great apart from one that has not grown at all and still looks like a week-old chick. It is eating and drinking but sleeps quite a bit.
I have given them all some vits to try and help it a bit but am...
Good morning all!
I was wondering if I could ask for some advice. I have chickens, ducks and guinea fowl and I want to worm them all. Can I use Flubenvet for all of them?
It does not mention ducks or guineas on the packaging... Tried calling a variety of vets and no definitive answers!
Many...
Morning all,
I have three day-old chicks who all looked amazing and well this morning. They all seemed to be going great guns, just started to peck at starter crumb and took their first drink etc. The largest and first born was running around great so I went off to sort our my dogs in the next...
Thanks ever so much for answering. Yes I have pretty much been gently washing and trying to put in eye drops when I can catch him.- which is a major task. His eye looked odd when he was born and he had spraddle leg (we hatched him in an incubator) so I guess it is not a surprise that there is...
