Hey All,
I had a major set back in the middle of June. A neighborhood dog got into my yard and killed 31 chickens. Literally the night before I had introduced 25 new layers that were just up to size. I have video surveillance and can see that in about 10 minutes the dog killed 31 birds even...
Thanks guys!
Now that it was mentioned, I'm 100% certain!
Case closed!
Again, I have to thank BYC people for not making people feel stupid for asking questions.
They are from cackle hatchery and came in a hatchery surprise, so that would narrow down the available breeds.
I'll have to look up some of their other breeds I haven't looked into
But they definitely should be purebred of whatever
I thought these might be too wellsummer hens but the one has a much larger comb and I'm starting to think it's a rooster, but from what I can find online the roosters do not look like that.
Pic 1is the first one
Pics 2 & 3 are the second one
Thanks!!
I let them out every day but they are limited to a confined area of about 750 sq ft. I havent found any nests or eggs...
Can chickens "hold" eggs? In other words if they are laying and I left them in the coop for a few days, they'd have to lay it if the egg is there, right?
Thanks! You guys are great about not bashing newbies! I am part of another industry in the pet world and they like to eat each other alive for stupid posts/ questions...
I appreciate it... Eventually I'll get it... and maybe more eggs...
I guess the time of year may be causing them not to lay...
yeah! I hope I'm wrong!
They are 8+ months old
I thought the combs were too big to be pullets... They are getting bright and I had one that I bought with them, that started laying 2 months ago...
I wonder if I'll ever get it! lol
I am always "almost positive" or "95% sure"
Until I see them lay an egg or hear them crow... But really, there are some I know for sure... Promise :)
Here are a couple California Whites, that were purchased as day old chics as pullets...
any doubt that these are roosters? I didn't think I should waste everyone's time starting a new thread.
I wanted to make sure before I sell them...
I feel dumb even asking but are these two Colombian Wyandotte Roos? I would expect a bigger knob where their spur is growing. No crowing yet (6-7 months old).
Thanks for your help!
