Help with gender of dumped chickens

Hi, I'm hoping someone can help with some chickens that were dumped on our property. Two groups were dumped since a local paper had an article about people in town having chickens and they will be fined. Three red hens were dumped first . We couldn't catch them but put food and water out. They...

    Cackle Hatchery - Ameraucanas

I have both EEs and Ameraucanas from Cackle. I am happy with my Ameraucanas from them. The rooster is very nice too, has never attacked a person , and is good to the hens .

    Dying baby goat please help

Some goat people I knew said they lost a lot of kids from kid milk replacer. They told me to use regular cow's milk and we didn't have losses after that. I was also told to watch grain. One of our 10 -11 week old bucklings got into grain and chicken food in the storage shed. My husband left...

Egg laying Poll ( please check out!!!)

One of my Barred Rocks started laying at about 18 weeks in mid December. My daughter said she saw a Rhode Island White lay this week so she would be around 20 weeks. My older girls started at 20 to 25 weeks. They are Cochins, Buff Orps , Brahmas and Easter Eggers. The Buff Orps were first at...

Having to start new flock. Do I want another rooster?

I also agree a flock is incomplete without a rooster or two. I have had chickens 45 or so years . I can't imagine not having roosters. I have had a few nasty jerks, but most were polite and respectful . I have even had a few that were bad as cockerals but brought in line by the senior rooster...

my dog needs help and idk what to do...

She looks like she is in labor. A false pregnancy is a possibility too or even pyometra. It could be many things. Are you sure there is no chance she was around an intact male? Do you have any photos of her belly? Is she digging in the blankets?

I live in PA. I have a flock of 18- 20 month old Buff Orps, Brahmas, Easter Eggers, and Cochins . They molted Sept to Oct. I got no eggs some days and 2-3 other days . The past 2 weeks I started getting 5-7 eggs a day so things are picking up. It's been cold as 12 degrees here and now in the...

What do you do with all those eggs?

We use about 18 to 20 eggs a week for eating, baking and cooking with. We give away another dozen or two a week to a friend. We are throwing about 5 Or 6 dozen a week away. I would like to sell some or give to someone who is in need , but I'm afraid people could sue us or we could get in...
