What is the best food to feed chickens

Thanks guys! Pat, I was asking about what foods to feed them that would be nutritionally complete, lay ration has been keeping them alive and well but I just wanted to know if there was anything better that I could be giving them that they could benefit from.

Feather plucking and possible nutrition deficiency

Thanks pat, I'm sure its not anything to do with the rooster because feathers are missing everywhere on the hens and the rooster has too lost some feathers, I separated the rooster for about a month to see if he was the problem but I noticed no difference. They have a reasonable space to live...

Feather plucking and possible nutrition deficiency

Thanks Wynette, I don't really suspect that it could be boredom because they free range every day, so maybe protein is the problem, I will try the cat food.

Hi, I have a coop containing 15 black australorps, 1 rooster and 14 hens. the problem is that they seem to have most of their feathers either gone or broken, it would seem that there is a feather picking problem, the other problem is that the feathers don't seem to ever come back, there is the...

    swollen lame leg!

from the knee down is swollen, it has been this way for a couple of weeks, I suspect he was injured while fighting with another rooster. he has a scab on his leg (no doubt aquired by fighting), he doesn't put much pressure on it, only enough so he can balance. I don't think its bumblefoot...

Need a little info about Welsummers...

I have 12 Welsummers. They seem to be a good reliable layer of really dark brown eggs, they are calm and gentle and like to wander. So far I'd have to say I'm really happy with them.

Lame chicken! is there anything I can do?

I have him separated, It could be a fracture or it could be mareks possibly, I don't have any pics and I don't usually medicate chickens unless I see the disease amongst them anyway thanks for the input and I'll look into some medication. Thanks, Roman.

Chicken with broken or lame leg, please help!

Thanks for all the support! I am absoloutely sure that it is not scaly leg mites. The best way I can discribe it is that he can't put pressure on the leg, the small yellow/black bumps sometimes bleed, which has been going on since he started to mature but never appeared to bother him...

Chicken with broken or lame leg, please help!

Right now I have a Red Pyle OEG cockeral with a lame or broken leg, he doesn't seem to be able to use it at all but I'm not sure what the problem is or what to do. Before his leg was lame/broken he had small yellow bumps under his scales on the same leg that would eventually swell up a bit and...

    Chickens with colds please help!

Thanks for the suggestions, if I narrow it down do you think you could more accurately tell what the problem is? My red pyle is sneezing, has mucus running from the nose which often bubbles when she breathes. hope to hear from you soon.
