Is it a must to dub Modern games for 4H?

According to the Standard of Perfection, all males over a year, or specifically cockerels shown after November first, must be dubbed for show. It is a disqualification in the standard for cocks to be undubbed. 4-H shows are usually more laid back, and not quite as strict on the standard as...

    Egg Issues

Hello! In early December, I hung a 12 hour daylight light in my garage (Compensating for the dimness of being inside) for egg production, so I could stick eggs in t incubator a little earlier then I did last year. So far, Ive only had one hen lay consistently for a week, but she stopped and...

    Modern Game Variety Question

Hello there!! Could you share where you obtained the birds? In advance, I’d like to apologize for the long spiel I happened to type out :gigBut I believe all your birds are BB Red! Your Rooster is definitely not a brown red. He is too orange To be a Brown red, and while the spangles/lacing in...

    Worms. Barf.

Whatever you end up using, I suggest dosing everyone, because if one bird has worms, the others probably have them as well.

Bantam chickens.. a friendly discussion about all pure and mixed breeds.

Yay yay yay!! A little random, but My little lemon blue Pullet’s Coloring had been a very pale yellow for a while, and I was very disappointed thinking that was her permanent coloring. The past week I’ve been super busy and haven't had a chance to really look closely at her, and today, I noticed...

    Feed for Game Chickens?

Hallo! Agreed with what’s been said, moderns in general don’t do very good in the cold. It’s good to keep them moving around though, and as said, a handful of bird feed or small treats will get them up and walking. Also, with bedding, under and around their roost area, make sure to clean up...

I have him, then another Lemon Blue roo! Since his legs are so short (compared to moderns at least lol) I’ve named him Lord Farquadd from the Shrek movie! I lost his LB hen, and sold the other brown red, and he is solely for showing/companion now. This Brown red rooster has 3 hens (1 br and 2...

Thank you!!! Nope, he’s a Brown Red! I just had the flash on, and his color looks a little off! He’s such a sweet boy, most old English I have had are a little unruly, but he’ll just stand still when I walk near him, and not make a single peep when I pick him up!
