    Why are people so weird?

I feel your pain. I'm expecting my new layers, 17 wks old, to soon be providing about 10-15 eggs per day. We plan on selling them to friends and family for 3 bucks per dozen, and to others for $3.50 a dozen. My daughter is "offended" that we (my son and I are partners in the new farm) will not...

    Is there a ratio?

Okay, thanks you all! My son thought that each needed a box :)

    Is there a ratio?

Hello, Everyone: I'm new at this, so need advice. For each nesting box, what should be the maximum number of hens in a coop? I'm getting 18 hens and have 8 nests. Should I decrease the number of chickens or get more nests. Is there a commonly used ratio of nests to hens?

We will finally close on the property next Monday. They have a small barn with two horse stalls in it. We will probably use it for the coop. I would think it would be enough room for about 20 chickens?

Hi, Debby: Thank you so much for the advice. Your suggestions certainly sound wise, especially the part about buying one pre-built.
