I got a Runner duck at tractor supply, usually their blue ducks are runners. Every time I get one it turns out to be a runner, even though the store claims that they are "Blue Swedish."
Yeah, she grew up with like 8 other chickens but had to be separated from them b/c she would peck and fight :( The weird thing is she was fine until like a month ago
We've had a chicken (hen) for around a year, she is super friendly with people, but doesn't like other chickens. What do you think I should do, and why doesn't she like other chickens? Thank you! (PS I know that she is a hen, not a rooster)
I would seperate it from the rest if it seems to not be getting enough food/water or is being bullied by the rest. You can certainly put it back when it gets stronger :).
Here is a picture of a gold sex link rooster... yours looks lighter.
If you got it at a feed store it might have been a mixed breed. All the ducks I got from TSC were mixes, but none of the chickens were.
Hello! I have three ducks (two girls, one boy) and they'll be old enough to breed in the spring, about a year old. Do you have any suggestions for breeding ducks? What should I expect when cross breeding? Will the male become aggressive? Do I need an incubator or can the chickens incubate...
Are both of the roosters full grown? If so, they probably won't get along - most roosters fight. Try introducing them in a neutral territory (neither one of their's coop) and if they fight separate them. My rooster is really sweet which I know is not the case in all roosters, but who knows...
I would probably separate this chick from the rest until it gets a little stronger. My friend has a goose with a deformed leg that is now grown up and is perfectly healthy! However, you might want to check this out: http://www.metzerfarms.com/Spraddleleg.cfm?CustID=2668673
I hope you find it! So cute! If you do find it you should probably get another duck (the same gender) as this ducky. With ducks you're supposed to keep them in the brooder until 2 weeks and then you could probably put it with the chickens, but only ones of the same gender or else you'll get...
