These are WH babies. They are much lighter than yours and definitely don't have such a strong cheek stripe.

When do WH's start laying? I am hoping my two will be soon! Hens start the "squatting", but do ducks do anything that will indicate they are ready?

I had two who died just like yours...it was like a "failure to thrive". They seemed fine for the first 24 hours then went downhill. I was able to keep one alive for another week, but she too died. It's so hard when that happens!

I ended up caging in all my plants. So only things that are close to the ground or covered by wire will make it. My alliums under wire. Cabbages and beets that were wintersown had to be placed under cover. It's not a great look but it works! I get to keep my chickens and have fresh flowers...
