Do roosters sing the happy hen alls right with the world song?
I've got a 6 month old that I would swear is a cockeral and I've heard him sing the Happy Hen Song recently. I planned on putting him in the freezed, but not if he is a hen. He is a frizzled Cuckoo Maran/Barred Rock cross so it is...
Just remember anyone trying to sell something is going to put the best pictures of the item in an ad. Hatcheries are no different, they are going to photograph their best birds and post them in their catalogs. The chicks they send out may not be from those birds.
My 7 month old Olive Egger just started laying last month. She layed a gorgeous dark green egg then a few days later laid another one. She hasn't laid since! What's the problem? Do I just need to have patience?

Java's arn't that rare in Oregon. I know 2 breeders in Southern Oregon near where I live. Their fertile eggs are very reasonable priced too, $8 a dozen. Hatched chicks are $4 each from the lady closest to me, she has black and mottled.
I have a trio of hatchery Sultans, I got them from the feed store ( I heard they got them from Ideal). I started out with 6, but the foxes or hawks got a couple of the pullets and one died as a baby. I was so glad one turned out to be a boy!
I had a little white Silkie hen I wanted to breed to...
