I have one girl, a Production Red, who began laying over a month ago i'd say she lays around 5/7 eggs a week. However, I have 5 other hens whom have yet to lay their first egg! Yes, they are all different breeds, but they are roughly the same age a week apart or so. I have a French Black Copper...

She's a production red, roughly about 6 months old and just had her first egg today, which came out very nice.

After the first egg can one expect eggs daily or at least a couple times a week?

I have a production red, but I am having difficulty identifying if the bird is a hen or a rooster... it is very dominant over the other birds in the flock ....I haven't heard it crow but here is a picture ...also it is about 4-5 months old so I wouldn't know by eggs.

I fed my hens crickets and they seemed to enjoy it and I enjoyed watching them any other "fun food"

2 Buff orpingtons, 1 Production Red, 1 french copper maran, 1 amercauana (all hens).can anyone tell meveryone the positives and negatives of whichever breed you may have experience with. Thanks guys!
