  • I have a single Black Star hen in a flock of six guineas, six Isa Browns, and three Australorps. My Black Star gets picked on a lot, has almost entirely lost interest in food, stays off by herself, and is over-all unhappy looking. What should I do? Should I get another Black Star chicken as a companion?

I thought she might be sick too, but it's been like this since she was a chick. I've been giving my whole flock a nutri-drench every few weeks, which has been keeping them pretty healthy.
I found out today that she waits till the rest of the flock are done eating to eat, and she was running around with everybody else today.
I will start a thread on the Emergency forum to ask more questions.

You might put out more feeding and watering stations, they can't guard them all. Making her wait is detrimental to her health. If she gets hungry enough she will eat things that are not food. I have heard of lowest in the order birds eating sand to stop the hunger, these birds die. Dehydrated birds become egg bound easily. It will help her to put out more places to eat and drink.
