Just as soon as I work out how to upload pics I will do a "MY Coop" thing with pics of the girls and their home. I might also do a thread on the Small incubator I made, as it works well (better than most of the cheaper shop bought ones) and costs very little to build.
All makes sense really and kind of obvious once someone points it out :)
Taking what you've identified here and I will do what I can in my own rearing.

They're a bit heath Robinson, but they work.
The first one is a monstrosity, bit of a Frankenstein build, but it works really well so I've never dismantled it. The new one is a Styrofoam type, but with temp controller and semi automatic egg turner (push /pull bar to turn all eggs at same time)...
Good you caught something, but I'd keep that trap set for a while just in case he was an innocent bystander and the real culprit is still at large. do you think it could have got into barn through the small hole?
The cream legbar chicks I have were sawdust bathing after around a week in their brooder box. I've not had others do this before, but guessing they may have used a sand box if it were there for them.
Hi all. Just signed up having read many of the threads here over the years, finally decided to go all in :)
I've kept hens and ducks for around 5 years a mix of breeds.
We currently have 10 ducks:-
- breeding trio of Saxony ducks
- An East Indian game female which we breed with a Cayuga/East...
