I have 12 nesting boxes for 7 hens, but four of them always use the same one. I guess they like it enough to wait their turn! Chickens really are funny people.

Our eggs seem to be getting larger, with an occassional double-yoke. I'm new to this, but I do hope they will lay bigger eggs after they mature a little more. Anyone else have some input on the size increase?
Only 4 of my 7 girls are laying, so they are doing good to keep production up to demands. We were down to 1 a few days ago, but now have almost a dozen.

Thanks for this question. It has been a rough summer here in mid-GA and it's still getting into the 90's during the day. I haven't had any problems yet, but now I'm thinking about adding a small fan for ventilation. I agree with the others that shade is the most important factor.
