I'd like to raise some turkeys for thanksgiving this year. Does anyone know where I can order true heritage breed chicks? I know a lot of the larger hatcheries advertise heritage breeds that are not authentic. Any help would be great. Thanks!

I have freedom ranger broilers ready to process. I just don't need as many as i have. they have been fed non medicated grower feed and have ample room to scratch and roost. they're between 6 - 9 pounds. very healthy birds, i feed my family from the same batch. i'm in brooksville florida...

I have raccoons and foxes that prowl at night. They occasionally get some of my chickens. They do free range all day, but i only let them out after 8 and they go in at dusk. I'm worried about the ducks being confined in a "coop" until i let them out in the morning.

I'm thinking about raising ducks for meat, either pekins or muscovy. does anybody raise ducks in an enclosed run all the time? I'm trying to decide whether i should invest in making another permanent run to raise duck and turkey in, or risk free ranging them.

definitely plucking. i've seen those apron deals, it's so humid here, i worry about bacteria or mold between the cloth and her skin.

one of my hens is being plucked bald. they haven't broken skin, but the area they are plucking is spreading. they free range so it isn't a matter of boredom. is there anything i can put on her back to dter the others and give her a chance to grow some feathers back? thanks!
