Does anyone know what I can use on a 3 week old Silkie for what looks like a possible ear/eye infection? It keeps scratching at its ear and eye, it doesnt look red or swollen just kind of scaly. I have polysporin ear/eye drops are they safe to use? Or other suggestions? Any help or advice...

Thanks for all the advice! I was able to get the humidity down to 65. I do not have air conditioning, but our climate is somewhat humid at times. I bought my hygrometer from the pet store, it is analog not digital. Is 65 low enough? A dehumidifier might be my only other option.

I have a Little Giant styrofoam still air incubator. There is no water in it at all and the humidity level is 90%! Does anyone know how to lower the huidity level? I havent put the eggs in yet, just trying to get it right before i do. Thanks!

In a few months i plan to let one of my hens hatch some eggs for the first time, and I am wondering about a few things: - is it okay to hatch eggs from a different breed? (i don't have a rooster, so plan on buying fertile eggs; she won't abandon the chicks if they are a different breed?) -...

I have 5 hens in an 8 by 9 foot wooden coop, with a 12 by 12 foot outdoor run. I recently discovered mites, and after cleaning out the coop and dusting both the coop and the hens, i am now wondering what to do next? How long before we can eat the eggs again? Does the pesticide in the dusting...

Its just that they're quite used to being so cozy in the house, and i have read about how they can die from being too cold....so i am worried that in an unheated uninsulated coop, even with the heat lamp, they will be too cold.
