How long can 3 day old chicks go without power? (snowstorm)

Light is not the issue only to feed and drink, putting them inside your coat is the best answer so far that would keep them above ninety degrees. keeping them warm is important but quick fluctuations in the temp is the worse thing for dayolds. Good Luck

Letting chicks out of the brooder

I wouldn't let them out of the brooder until there to four weeks, depending on the weather, then for short periods at six weeks they should be fine out during the day. A radio playing the back ground will help from them being startled at every little noise. Good Luck JRC

How do I introduce 3 day old chicks to a 1 day old chick?

I would reduce the light, to the darkest possible. that is a reason to use a red lamp although a blue light works the best. depending on your heat source I have used a low watt light bulb and painted it my self. Good Luck. JRC

    peepers on ringeck pheasants

Blinders definitely have there place, some have a plastic pin others use a metal ring. some are plastic others are rubber. I found that the rubber with the metal ring (hog ring) would work the best. They have a tendency to fly up into the top netting and get caught , the rubber ones eliminated...

Thinking about getting some pheasants, quick questions

Ring necks will lay 1 egg every 1.5 days, 50 to 65 eggs per season as long as you gather them every day. the last two weeks of the season the fertility will begin to drop. feed is important as much as stress, they will stop laying if they are stressed. books you read will tell you 7 to 10 hens...

    Pheasants

they do have a game bird feed just for game birds. try Purina. the starter and breeder is the most important. other times of the year a turkey or chicken feed is good for just a maintains. be real careful on the age of the feed especially the starter you want fresh feed, the vitamin D will break...

    CHUCKARS.

with experience you can tell a cock by its more bloc key head, both the hens and cocks have spurs but the male s legs are heavier. the easiest way is to measure the leg from the bottom of the foot to the knee, I'm trying to remember the Lent 21/4 inch and below is female longer is male, you may...

Can you clip ringneck pheasants wings so they can't fly?

I have clipped wings for my breeders before, it prevents them from flying up and breaking there necks. and to say flying is the main defense for pheasants you have not raised many pheasants, flying is there last line of defense, running and setting in cover is there first defense. they do not...

Can I keep Ring Necks withmy Peafowl?

Age is the biggest factor, then room and cover. with pheasant's you need to brood them together then they are fine. in a flight pen when ever you introduce a new bird or birds a new pecking order is established. pheasants are very aggressive. time of year and there age is another factor...

    wormer

Ivomectin will work in the water, mix enough for the day and then replace with fresh water. can repeat four to five weeks later but birds should be wormed at least a month before laying, it's to hard on them to be dewormed and keep laying. J.R.C Utah.

    Pheasant Questions

In my pheasant breeding experience 1 male to 11 hens is ideal, any less is to hard on the hens. lot depends on how much room you are giving them. If raising chickens with pheasants the secret is to brood them together , do not introduce anything to the pheasants after the second week, and keep...
