Thank you all for your imput. I will go out there and try to catch the little monster and return the coop to the girls. That's why I love BYC you always can find answers from helpful fellow chicken owners:thumbsup
Seeing that he has been in with the girls for over 5 hours and they now seem to be going in and out (only the brave ones) is it to late if he has something bad to separate them and how in the world do I catch him. My husband says that he knows this guy and his chickens and they are all healthy...
We have 13 two year old hens, they were happy and doing well. Today my husband came home with a Rooster from a friend that said that he had an extra one. He put it in with the girls and things went crazy. The girls are now all outside in 30 degree weather and he is inside making all kind of...
My 17 month old Orpingtons are doing it again. In the past week I have gotten 5 eggs out of 14 hens and in the past two days I have gotten zero eggs. This whole summer has been very poor egg production. I thought hens lay very well their first year. I don't know what to do.
Thank you both very much. I guess I didn't think that chickens can molt for 3 months. The table scraps are gone in 5 minutes and if I don't have them in my hand when I let them out in the morning they are very put out:lol:. I live in Montana and our spring and summer so far has been odd...
My chickens are 16 months old and I am lucky to get 5 eggs a day out of 14 chickens. Some of the are missing feathers, I know this is normal but they have been doing this since March. What can I do to help them? Also, is it OK to give them table scraps. Thanks for your help
Thanks for the information. I still have one bag of the starter so I think I will mix with the Layena until it's gone. Don't want to throw the money away. I am south of Livingston. You guys and gals are the best with helping with an answer as soon as I write:D
My not quite 4 month old chickens have layed an egg. The man at the feed store here in Montana has told me to keep them on starter/grower, which is medicated, until at least 5 months. Are the eggs ok to eat and should I switch them to a laying mash. Not knowing what to do, thanks for the help!

I drove 50 miles on Sunday to get the meds and started all of them that evening. Today is Tuesday and already she is to the point that I can hardly see it. No one else is showing any signs of goopy eye. Thank you so very much for your quick reply and advise.
I have 4 month old buff orpingtons and this morning one of them has a gunky eye. No blood. What can I do and will this spread to all 14 of them. Worried:(
